Toys for Two Year Olds
Toddlers are beginning to learn words and noticing their surroundings. They do more physical actions: jumping around, climbing, hanging, rolling, and more physical play. They have better control of their hands and use of their fingers and like to do things with small objects.
Suggested toys for 2-year-olds:
Problem-solving activities such as
wood or noise puzzles, blocks, objects to sort (by size, shape, color, smell), and things that snap, button and close.
Toys for pretending and building blocks, small vehicle toys, building sets, dressing up, dolls with bottles.
Helping toys vacuums, kitchen, and dishes, food sets. mops and brooms.
Drawing activities like large non-toxic, washable crayons and markers, finger paints, large paper, colored chalk. music and rhythm instruments.
Playing with adults- Play-Doh, foam, or moon sand.
Picture books with stories
Motor skills
Kicking and throwing —large and small balls. Ride-on toys that can move, tube tunnels, low climbing slides. crawling underneath items.
